Sergio Ballesteros gave the media his version of what happened in the dressing room after the Levante-Real Madrid match. Some media sources reported that whilst inside the stadium's treatment room, Ballesteros grabbed Pepe by the throat and punched him.
"I've never assaulted anyone in my life, especially not Pepe", he said. "After 20 years in this profession, you can believe anything I say. I went in to see how Cristiano was and I would never dare to assault anyone", he continued.
Regarding Sergio Ramos' comment that he should try professional boxing, he said: "That's what hurt me the most. Before the game I congratulated him and Casillas for what they'd achieved with the national team and what he said surprised me. If his teammates have given him false information, he's been misled".
Ballesteros also spoke about David Navarro elbowing Cristiano. "It's something that hurts me a lot. Everyone jumps to conclusions. Whatever he or I do is assumed to be intentional. I spoke to him and at no point was he aware that Cristiano was there. That can happen in any game", he underlined.
The Levante centre-back didn't want to say what had happened after the game, although he admitted he went to the opposition's dressing room. "These things happen because it involves Madrid. It isn't a coincidence. We had them on the ropes and the league could have ended here", he concluded.
