Furious Newcastle fan urges Demba Ba to pay car wash bill

A furious North-East car cleaner has taken to Twitter to urge Demba Ba to pay his £40 bill – after the striker apparently ducked out after moving to Chelsea.


Ba, who sealed a £7million move to the Blues last week, left many in Newcastle frustrated after he pushed through the transfer, but one Geordie has more reason to be furious that the rest.

Lee Donnelly – part of a company called LJD Valet – alleges that he cleaned Ba’s car before he headed to London to sign for Chelsea, and has never seen the money since.

Donnelly says Ba owes him £40, and took advantage of an #askba Twitter chat the striker was doing to try and request the funds.

‘#askba are u ever gonna pay me the £40 for valeting ur car? take it as a no as u moved away,’ he tweeted.

He then tried to appeal to Ba’s better nature, insisting that the £40 is nothing compared to the reported £90,000-a-week he is picking up at Stamford Bridge.

And if the 34-year-old can’t land the role as successor to Daniel Craig, he’d happily settle for playing Luther.

‘I’d go for an emotional part, something off the wall,’ he told FourFourTwo.

‘I’ve got too much for a henchman role. I’d need for it to be, I dunno, like Luther.

‘Or if they’re looking for a new James Bond, I wouldn’t say that’s out of my comfort zone at all.’

Manchester derby invader loses job as Sir Bobby Charlton's gardener

Matthew Stott, the 21-year-old who was charged after invading the pitch and confronting Rio Ferdinand during the Manchester derby, has lost his job as Sir Bobby Charlton's gardener.

Stott has been banned from attending football matches for three years after he decided to jump onto the field of play and intimidate Ferdinand, before Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart helped to defuse the situation.

United legend Sir Bobby confirmed that Stott had been relieved of his duties following events at the Etihad. 

He said: "He was a very nice lad and I don’t know what happened at the match." 

The gardener ran onto the pitch after Robin van Persie dramatically scored a last-minute winner, which saw all three points go to Sir Alex Ferguson's side. 

The judge further added that Stott was lucky not to be given a straight prison sentence. 

He said: "This has to be a custodial sentence which I will suspend, but you are lucky you are not going straight down." 

Stott has been given a 56-day suspended sentence, a three-year football attendance ban, a three month curfew and 120 hours of unpaid community service.

Tevez faces driving ban for hat-trick of driving offences

Strike Carlos Tevez faces a driving ban later this month for totting up too many penalty points on his licence. The Manchester City ace has scored a hat trick of driving offences. 

And his lawyer Nick Terry this week told a court: “There are a number of matters against Mr Tevez and he will be disqualified under totting up provisions.” 

Mr Terry asked the Manchester magistrates to adjourn sentence on two offences so punishment for a third could be included. Tevez’s Porsche was impounded after he failed to produce a full UK licence in November. 

The star, 28, also got an interim ban that month for failing to give information when his Hummer was clocked speeding. 

And he was fined £1,500 and got six points in Crewe, Cheshire, for speeding last May. 

Mr Terry won the adjournment so last month’s Crewe sentence could be set aside and all the offences “amalgamated”.

Van der Vaart admits to hitting wife on New Year's Eve

The Dutch midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart, formerly of Real Madrid and Tottenham, has admitted to having struck his wife –model Sylvie Van der Vaart– at a New Year's Eve party. "It was very foolish of me. I'm an idiot. I'm so sorry. It should never have happened", the Hamburg star told German newspaper 'Bild'.

The couple have since announced they are to split following the incident which, according to 'Bild', took place at a private New Year's Eve party in Hamburg. Before the fight between the pair broke out, the two had posed for a photo together looking happy and in love.

However, just moments later, the pair became embroiled in a blazing argument that escalated to the point that the midfielder hit his wife, causing her to fall to the ground. Although the model subsequently claimed in public to have forgiven her husband, they have ultimately decided to go their separate ways.

French blind institution slams Ibrahimovic

Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been criticised by the French federation of the blind and visually impaired [FAF] in its calendar “La bourse ou la vue”. 

The calendar features personalities from various walks of life in France and stresses the role of money in society.

"The question we want to ask is simple: in what kind of society do we want to live?," said Vincent Michel, the president of the FAF, on the federation’s website. 

"The one where money is king that crushes everything in its path and in particular the weak? Or do we want to live in a society more just, more human, respectful and caring of individuals and of progress for everyone?" 

The Paris Saint-Germain striker appears on the February page of the calendar and is facing criticism for the large quantity of money he earns at the club. 

The 31-year-old’s salary sees him pocket more than €1m a month for the French side. 

“Mr. Zlatan Ibrahimovic... Do you know that with your yearly salary, you could fully-fund the Institute's Vision, its 250 researchers and personnel who work in the department of research on diseases of the vision?” added Michel. 

Former Lyon and Barcelona defender Edmilson has also criticised the Swede by warning new PSG arrival Lucas Moura of the player. 

“Lucas needs to stay smart around this arrogant superstar,” he said through his Twitter account.

Wes Brown forced to slash price of his mansion after it fails to sell in two years

Premier League star Wes Brown has cut the price of his country mansion by £1million after failing to sell it for two years. 

Brown, 33, originally put the five-bedroom pile - close to Wayne and Coleen ­Rooney’s mansion - on the market for £4.25million. 

He wanted to sell up after he and wife Leanne and their three daughters Halle, Lilia and Lola decided to move to a rambling farmhouse. 

A few months ago it was thought ex-Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan and boyfriend Scott Sinclair, who plays for Man City, were interested in the ­property in ­Prestbury, Cheshire. 

Pals said that former Man United and England defender Brown, who now plays for Sunderland, was “not too bothered” by the £1million price drop. 

Estate agents have described the property as “a magnificent contemporary mansion” in Cheshire’s prestigious Prestbury area. 

It boasts a cinema room, a vast spiral staircase, a leisure complex and a sound-proofed music studio. 

It even has a swimming pool with a glass roof that looks up into the kitchen.

AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini revealed he has forked out for wonderkid Stephan El Shaarawy to go on holiday over Christmas as a reward for his sensational form this season. 

The 20-year-old striker has helped ease the pain of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s summer exit by firing his way to the top of Serie A’s scoring charts with 14 goals, and his impact has certainly not gone unnoticed on veteran midfielder Ambrosini. 

‘El Shaarawy has gone on vacation on my expense, but he deserves it,’ said the 35-year-old.

Ambrosini also insisted that the rise of the man dubbed ‘the Pharaoh’, due to his Egyptian father, shows the Rossoneri have no need to recruit the likes of Mario Balotelli when the transfer window re-opens in January. 

‘El Shaarawy is a better player than Balotelli,’ he added. 

‘He has surprised me a lot, even though I was aware of his qualities. But he shouldn’t get satisified. 

‘El Shaarawy is young and intelligent, but he must not only be a goalscorer. He needs to get more involved in our play.’

Balotelli's brother Enoch arrested in Brescia

Mario Balotelli’s younger brother Enoch was reportedly arrested last night in Brescia for attacking two police officers during a street brawl. 

Il Giornale di Brescia claims 20-year-old Enoch Barwuah, who shares birth parents with the Manchester City striker, ran into trouble at 2am last night in Bagnolo Mella. 

There was a brawl and police were called, then Enoch was charged with violence and resisting arrest. 

It is suggested he was bare-chested and not wearing any shoes when the fight broke out in the middle of the street. 

Enoch insists he was attacked inside a club and did not intentionally hurt the arresting officers. 

He wants to be a football player like his older brother and had a trial run at Salford City last month.

Sir Alex Feguson reveals Manchester United have tanning booths to combat rainy season

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he had tanning booths installed at the club’s Carrington training ground to compensate for the lack of sun in rainy Manchester.

The veteran Scot opened up to Harvard Business School about everything from his match-day rituals to motivating millionaire stars, but also let slip that players have tanning machines on hand in the dressing room to top them up with much-needed Vitamin D.

In the fascinating study, entitled ‘Sir Alex Ferguson: Managing Manchester United’, the authors, Anita Elberse and Tom Dye, reveal: ‘He [Ferguson] could talk enthusiastically about the new Vitamin D machine (which perhaps most resembled a tanning booth) in the players’ dressing room at Carrington, put there to help them counterbalance the lack of sunlight in Manchester, or his plan for the new season to give players staggered one-week breaks in the winter months to replenish their Vitamin D.’

This certainly goes a long way to explaining why Cristiano Ronaldo was such a rich mahogany colour during his final few seasons at Old Trafford.
