Galliani: Changing coach will not give us any guarantees

November 13, 2012

AC Milan have once again thrown their support behind under-pressure coach Massimiliano Allegri, suggesting a managerial change would not promise results.

Allegri was hoisted into the spotlight after Milan experienced one of their worst starts to the Serie A campaign in recent years and his role at the club has come under intense scrutiny.

But after the Milan board threatened to replace Allegri early on, they then backed him as the right man for the job.

Following a 3-1 loss to Fiorentina on Sunday, vice-president Adriano Galliani was forced to endorse Allegri despite expressing disastisfaction at Milan sitting 13th in the league.

"It is obvious that we are not happy," Galliani said. "We evaluated everything last night and changing the coach would not have given us any guarantees.

"Silvio Berlusconi and I had a long talk last night and then we called Allegri at around midnight and told him that we have faith in him. We confirmed Allegri as the coach of Milan. He has done well in the past two years and this is the decision we have made."
