Ibrahimovic facing disciplinary action over stamp on Lovren

December 20, 2012

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be asked to give his version of his controversial clash with Lyon defender Dejan Lovren last weekend after the French Football League reviewed the incident.

The French Football League's (LFP) Video Panel has looked at images of the incident in which Ibrahimovic stood on the prone Lovren, causing a head wound, shortly before half-time of Paris Saint-Germain's 1-0 win over OL on Sunday evening.

The Swedish striker will now be summoned to appear before the LFP's Disciplinary Commission to explain what happened. The date of the hearing has not yet been set.

The incident sparked a war of words between the two clubs with OL president Jean-Michel Aulas and Lovren himself accusing Ibrahimovic of having deliberately stamped on the Croatian defender, while PSG sporting director Leonardo replied Aulas should "Leave Zlatan alone!".
