Borussia Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc has reacted angrily to claims by Ivan Perisic's agent that the Croatian is unhappy at the club.
Comments by Tonci Martic that his client is disillusioned by a lack of playing time with Dortmund come hot on the heels of renewed speculation about the future of Robert Lewandowski.
"I don't want to react to every statement made by player agents outside of Germany," Zorc told Ruhr Nachrichten on Monday. "I won't comment it."
The local paper had questioned Zorc about the future of Perisic. During his stay with the Croatian national team, several interviews appeared in Croatian media, claiming the player was unhappy in Dortmund and had never been given a fair chance by the German champions.
"We want to sit down with Klopp in the near future," Martic had told Croatian sports magazine Sportske Novosti. "Ivan wants to leave Borussia immediately."
Martic also explained that Perisic could only get better when playing 90 minutes, adding: "As is well known this is rarely the case in Dortmund"
He continued his diatribe in WAZ, saying: "Ivan likes Dortmund and the fans, respects the club where is on a 2016 contract. But when you don't play, you are not pleased. We should talk."
Perisic, who signed for Dortmund in a €5.5 million transfer from Club Brugge in 2011 and arrived as the Jupiler Pro League's top scorer in 2010/2011, has failed to win a spot in Klopp's first-team. When Poland skipper Jakub Blaszczykowski tore ankle ligaments in October, Klopp favoured Kevin Grosskreutz.
The Croatia international had his say too, telling NovaTV: "I cannot be pleased with my situation at the club. I don't get a lot of time on the pitch, very much like last year."
Perisic has so far played a total of eight Bundesliga matches, four of them as a starter, two DFB-Pokal matches and was brought on for the last minutes of every Champions League match. He has scored two goals in Bundesliga, and one in the cup.
And Perisic bemoaned a lack of backing from his manager: "The stats show it: When I play I score. But when I don't score in a game, I am not an option for the next two or three games."
Perisic also claimed that Klopp favoured a few players and would not talk to the other players: "We have no relationship. He is the best coach in Germany right now, the number one, everyone accepts the subordinate role," he said.
"And rightly so, what we achieved in Dortmund over the past few years is unique. The atmosphere in the team is perfect, but he has three to four players with whom he discusses things. The rest of us are pros, doing their job."
