Vincent Kompany could miss Manchester City's Premier League trip to Chelsea on Sunday after suffering a knee injury in his side's Champions League draw with Real Madrid.
Kompany, 26, limped off the field with ten minutes remaining, but he played out the rest of the game as City bowed out of the Champions League.
The Belgian received further treatment after full-time and reportedly left the Etihad Stadium on crutches, raising concerns over his fitness for this weekend's match.
Although Kompany was absent for City's post-match press conference, he later wrote on Twitter that the English champions are not too deflated following the draw.
"The opportunity to claim our place at the top of European football will come again," he tweeted. "No sad faces, just the hunger to improve."
Sergio Aguero scored an equaliser for City from the penalty spot and he shared Kompany's sentiments.
"We gave our best, but we couldn't win," Aguero said. "Without a doubt, the Champions [League] is a missing subject. But there's always a rematch on football."
