David Luiz: Falcao would be a great fit at Chelsea

Falcao is wanted by a host of top European sides including the Blues, Manchester City and Real Madrid after his goalscoring exploits for Atletico Madrid.

And Luiz, who lined up against Falcao in an international friendly last night, has spoken out to try to encourage the 26-year-old to join the European champions ahead of other prospective suitors.

‘I'm happy when there are great names attached to Chelsea,’ the Brazilian said.

‘He's a great player. It would be a good choice for Falcao to come to Chelsea.’

The Colombian has scored 13 goals in all competitions this campaign and is the third highest goalscorer in La Liga, predictably behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

His record has attracted the attentions of many top sides, making a move away from the Estadio Vicente Calderon in January increasingly likely.

And with Manchester City currently squirreling away strikers and Real Madrid struggling to keep the pace with La Liga leaders Barcelona, a switch to Chelsea could prove the best move for Falcao.

‘He's a great player. It's particularly hard to stop him,’ Luiz said of Falcao, who netted a hat-trick against the Blues in August’s Uefa Super Cup tie.

‘Of course [he'd be a great fit]. All of the players would be happy because Falcao would be a great player.’
