Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Ibero-American Community Trophy as part of the 2011 edition of the Spanish National Sports Awards, which are handed out every year by Spain's National Sports Council (CSD). The jury recognised the Real Madrid forward and Portuguese international as the most outstanding Ibero-American athlete of the year.
The Spain head coach, Vicente Del Bosque, meanwhile, has been given the Olimpia Award, which goes to an individual or organisation that has, whether through sporting pursuits or by promoting those of others, made an outstanding contribution to raising awareness of and improving sporting conditions for people with disabilities.
Real Madrid's honorary president, Alfredo Di Stéfano, was also amongst the prize winners. He will be receiving the Francisco Fernández Ochoa National Award for significant lifetime achievement in the practice, organisation, management, promotion and development of sport.
Juan Carlos Navarro, the Barcelona and Spain basketball player, has been honoured with the Don Felipe de Borbón National Award, which goes to the most outstanding Spanish athlete of the year, in recognition of his performances both in Spain and on the international stage.
