Inter Milan ready to cash in on Manchester United target Sneijder

October 23, 2012

CalcioMercato are today reporting that Inter Milan are ready to offload Dutch international playmaker Wesley Sneijder, who has consistently been linked with a move to Old Trafford for the best part of 18 months.

San Siro boss Andrea Stramaccioni is seemingly looking to the future and the 28 year old former Real Madrid may not be part of the Nerazzurri boss’s plans and this could open the door for a move by Sir Alex Ferguson to secure a long term Man United target.

Sneijder has made just three Serie A appearances thus far this term and Inter Milan appear to be experiencing something of a resurgence after a couple of very lean years that have seen a number of manager’s come and go.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a number of potential midfield acquisitions as he seemingly looks to add creativity including apparent interest in Marouane Fellaini, Victor Fischer, Isco and Championship youngster Tom Ince.

Wesley Sneijder was signed by Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2009 and in his first season at the club he helped the Italian giants to a treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League successes but life at Inter Milan has somewhat nosedived since the ‘Special One’ left for Real Madrid.

Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, and to a lesser extent, Michael Carrick are all in the latter stages of their glittering careers and whilst youngster Tom Cleverley is making big strides there are question marks over the effectiveness of Anderson and the form and fitness of Scottish international Darren Fletcher. Therefore it’s no surprise that Ferguson is considering the acquisition of a young midfielder to boost the club’s strength in depth.
