Chelsea favourites to sign £30m-rated Everton star Fellaini

October 23, 2012

The giant Belgian has grown out of Goodison park and is set to leave the Merseyside club – with Chelsea favourites to land his signature as early as this January.

Everton have had a fantastic start to this season – they currently sit fourth in The Barlcays Premier League after 8 games played. A 1-0 victory over Manchester United at the start of the season set the tone for what is believed to be a very successful season for Moyes' men.

However, much of this success has been down to one giant man. Marouane Fellaini has been a revelation this year. In past, the lanky Belgian has been deployed by Moyes in a more central midfield role – running around and not using his traits to ultimate effect. Moyes has moved the Belgian to an advanced role behind the striker – and the 6ft 4 giant has looked unplayable.

With 3 goals in the league this season already – one being the winner against Manchester United, Fellaini's performances have not gone unnoticed.

Chelsea appear to be favourites to land his signature – and have reported to be willing to pay up to £30million for the Everton fan favourite. Fellaini himself has even admitted he could leave Everton as early as January.

He said: “I am just starting my fifth season at Everton, this will be one of my last – I have seen everything. In January or at the end of the season I will turn to another club or championship.”

Moyes signed Fellaini for £15million from Standard Liege in 2008 and will demand for at least half for the giant Belgian.

Moyes, who has worked at Everton for 10 years, has worked wonders with a very limited budget. Although he may not like the idea of losing his star man this January, £30million could go along way to put finishing touches around his squad.

Moyes wants his Everton side back playing European football, no doubt with Marouane Fellaini on his side. However – if a bid comes in, don't expect Moyes to hesitate.
