Tottenham Hotspurs are reported to prepare a £12m bid for Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles as a replacement for Madrid-bound Luka Modric.
Andre Villas-Boas has number of targets on his radar for midfield position as Rennes' M'Vila but the Portuguese manager wants a creative force rather than a defensive player: "He [Yann M'Vila] is an interesting player but I don't think he will join Tottenham. He is a player of defensive characteristics."
On the possible replacements for Luka, we are looking for a more creative player."
Meireles, 29, has worked with Tottenham's current boss Andre Villas-Boas twice at Porto and Chelsea and Spurs hope that close relationship could lure Meireles away from Stamford Bridge.
