Barcelona has been reported to open negotiations to renew Messi's contract which is due to expire in 2016.
Messi's current contract with Barcelona was signed in 2009 under former President Joan Laporta and the Catalan club wants its biggest asset to stay at club for life. Do he agree to put pen to paper, Messi will net no less than 300,000 euros a week.
