Robin Van Persie is close in completing a move to Old Trafford as Arseal has agreed a transfer fee of around 24m pounds with Manchester United. The striker will fly back to England after a international friendly match between Belgium and Netherlands and have a medical in Manchester ahead of the proposed move.
"Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United." the team said in a statement.
In his first interview after the deal, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he had no choice but to agree the let the club's captain leave. "It's sad to lose a player of his quality. He had a year left on his contract so we didn't have the choice." he said.
