Werder Bremen in no rush to open talks with Arnautovic over new deal

December 16, 2012

Werder Bremen have confirmed an intention to discuss a new contract with Marko Arnautovic, but are in no rush to open talks with the striker.

Arnautovic is enjoying his best season at Bremen since joining the club in 2010 from FC Twente and scored a hat-trick against Hoffenheim earlier this month.

The Austria international still has 18 months to run on his existing contract and Bremen executive Klaus Filbry says negotiations will be held at the right time.

"We have always found the ideal timeframe to discuss contracts and contract extensions with players and their player agents," Filbry told Kreiszeitung Syke.

"This will be exactly the same with Marko Arnautovic.

"He knows all about his chances at Werder Bremen, he knows what we can offer him on and off the pitch. And we know all about our chances with regard to him.

"We definitely know what he is capable of!"
