Schalke 04 general manager Horst Heldt has accused the Dutch FA (KNVB) of failing to provide sufficient medical care for Ibrahim Afellay.
Afellay, 26, tore a muscle while on international duty with Netherlands as they took on Germany in a friendly in November and has been sidelined ever since.
Heldt told the press: "Sadly, it seems he received no medical care directly after the game. The first minutes and the first hours are decisive on how long the player is ruled out for when picking up a muscle injury."
Afellay's absence is similar to one involving Arjen Robben, which led to the Bayern Munich winger missing the entire first half of the 2010-11 season due to a thigh injury he picked up when representing Netherlands prior to the World Cup.
After lengthy discussions between Bayern and KNVB both sides agreed on a match compensating for the player's absence. loss. That game was played ahead of the European Championship in the summer.
