Manchester United to make £25m summer bid for Malaga star Isco

December 25, 2012

Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out making any signings in January but that has not stopped the Scot from preparing the groundwork for a move to capture his number one summer transfer target. The Old Trafford boss has scouted Malaga midfielder Isco for the best part of three months and will look to open negotiations with the La Liga side over a deal to sign the talented Spaniard.

Ferguson will launch a £25m summer bid for the 20 year old starlet and will hope that the cash-strapped La Rosaleda side has little choice other than to accept such an offer to help balance the books.

Malaga’s financial problems are a result of the funds poured into the club by Qatari owners to help achieve the club’s maiden Champions League berth and led to the summer sales of Santi Cazorla and Salomon Rondon to Arsenal and Rubin Kazan respectively.

Despite the loss of such crucial talent Manuel Pellegrini’s side eased into the last 16 of the Champions League without losing a game and last weekend’s win over Real Madrid cemented their spot in the La Liga top four.

However Malaga may not be able to match the ambitions young midfielder Isco is aiming for and a move to Man United could well tempt the former Valencia midfielder.

Last term, Isco’s first at the club, the Spanish Under 21 international was pivotal in the club’s march into the top four and he has further matured into one of the best young talents in Europe in recent months. His form being recognised by TuttoSport, who’s renowned ‘Golden Boy’ Award, was handed to the Malaga man in commemoration of his efforts in 2012.

Ferguson is keen to freshen up a midfield that has looked brittle at times this season. Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, the Welshman being employed fairly regularly in a less attack minded role, are both in the latter stages of their careers and though Tom Cleverley has come on leaps and bounds the Man United boss is determined to win the race to sign Isco, a player he would then be able to mould his midfield around.

The likes of Arsenal are also thought to be interested but Man United’s main competition for the Andalusian talent could well come from Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, both of whom have been monitoring Isco for some time.
