Manchester United eye Ola John as replacement for Nani

December 11, 2012

Portuguese source Abola claim that Man United have identified Benfica winger Ola John as a target they will look to pursue in January.

The young Liberian born Dutch Under 21 international only moved to Lisbon in May after two successful seasons at FC Twente but such has been his form for Benfica that Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently very interested in luring the speedy wide-man to Old Trafford.

Talk of such a move may well further back up reports that Nani has become surplus to requirements at Man United and any move to bring in another winger would further limit the 26 year old’s first team opportunities. The Portuguese international has made just four Premier League starts this season.

Sir Alex Ferguson has opted in recent weeks to play Luis Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young as his wide attackers and Nani hasn’t started a top tier league match since September.
