AC Milan have made Manchester United target Kevin Strootman their January transfer priority, according to reports in Italy.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been in superb form for PSV this season, scoring five goals in 16 Eredivisie appearances, and has caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson.
But the Premier League leaders will face stiff competition from AC Milan, who want the Dutchman to turn around their stuttering season.
The Rossoneri are currently seventh in Serie A and 14 points off the leaders Juventus and are expected to buy in January.
And, according to Italian paper Tuttosport, Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri is desperate to add Strootman to his ranks when the transfer window opens.
It has been reported that the Italian club are already discussing a possible fee for the Holland international, who is under contract at PSV until June 2016.
