David Villa could be in his last season at Barcelona. It's no secret that the forward isn't happy in his current situation at the club, and that's he's had to accept a lesser role in the team.
Despite recovering from a broken tibia which he got in the Club World Cup (exactly a year ago yesterday), Villa is no longer a sure-fire starter.
In fact, Tito Vilanova hasn't played him in the big matches - against Madrid in the Supercopa and in the Liga he didn't play a minute.
He doesn't feel valued and is seriously considering the possibility of leaving in the summer.
Liverpool are a club that have been keeping an eye on his career for a while - they've been thinking about the Asturian since before he got injured last year.
After Tito Vilanova ruled out the possibility of players leaving during the winter transfer window, it looks like any exit would happen in the summer.
The Reds could offer between 12 and 15 million euros, a relatively small amount bearing in mind that Villa's buy-out clause is worth 200 million.
But, it's also worth remembering that the forward is now 31 years old and also his contract with Barcelona runs out in 2014.
Before he goes on a free, the bosses at the Camp Nou would like to recoup some of their initial investment, even the minimum possible.
Villa's 'adiós' makes even more sense if all the speculation eventually becomes action and Neymar signs for Barça.
The arrival of the Brazilian combined with the stiff competition that already exists in attack (with Messi, Pedro, Alexis, Tello, Cuenca and even Deulofeu) would logically encourage Villa to rethink his future.
