FORMER Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he fears for Rafa Benitez if his side lose to Leeds tonight.
The Spaniard has faced a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea fans unwilling to support their interim boss.
Benitez also saw his side fail to win the Club World Cup against Corinthians on Sunday, the fourth chance of silverware the west Londoners have seen slip away already this season.
And Hasselbaink reckons Benitez can ill-afford a shot at League Cup glory to escape him tonight.
Chelsea face Leeds in a quarter-final clash, just two days after they were in action in Japan.
But despite the dual dangers of fatigue and jet-lag, Hasselbaink believes that Chelsea must be at their best to protect Benitez from further agony.
"They are out of the Champions League - they can't compete for that now," said Hasselbaink.
"And they will have wanted to win that game on Sunday and take that cup home. That was a big setback.
"He [Benitez] wouldn't want to lose the quarter-final in the Capital One Cup straight after.
"That would only bring more pressure and the more pressure he can relieve the better.
"All teams need to win games but I don't think it would do him big favours if he loses against Leeds."
