Harry Redknapp: QPR players must give blood, sweat and tears

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp says his players must give "blood, sweat and tears" if they are to end their poor run and climb the table.

The Hoops entertain Fulham on Saturday without a victory in 16 games - the longest winless start to a Premier League season.

Redknapp's team are eight points from safety at the bottom of the table.

"I am getting the best out of what they can give me and feel we are close to getting that first win," said Redknapp.

QPR have drawn all three games since Redknapp inherited the squad left by Mark Hughes, who was sacked last month.

And the former Tottenham manager has made it clear that every player needs to play his part if the club is to get out of trouble,

"I'm not looking to get rid of anyone at the moment," added Redknapp in response to reports that players could leave Loftus Road when the January transfer window opens.

"We can't afford to be thinking about that. They've just got to get on and do well for QPR.

"We've got to give blood, sweat and tears against Fulham to try to get that win.

"If they all play to their potential, then we won't have a problem.

"But they've got to play to what they are capable of doing, they can't be thinking about their next move or any other move."

Redknapp has asked midfielder Adel Taarabt to miss the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations and help QPR's fight against relegation.

Taarabt, 23, is poised to represent Morocco at the three-week tournament in South Africa which begins on 19 January.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player says he will decide after Christmas whether to go.

"I don't know whether they have to go or whether they don't," added Redknapp, who also faces losing Mali's Samba Diakite.

"Of course I'd rather Adel didn't go. I told him we need him here if possible.

"He is a good player, so we would really like to keep him."
