Arsenal boss Wenger demands continuity

December 21, 2012

Arsene Wenger has challenged Arsenal to maintain their ascent towards the Premier League top four by beating Wigan on Saturday.

The 5-2 win at Reading on Monday means the Gunners have now lost just once in their last six outings and has lifted Wenger's side up to fifth in the table.

And a maximum points-haul against the Latics would see them, temporarily at least, leapfrog Tottenham and Chelsea into third.

"We had a good result against West Brom, a good result against Reading, so it is important to show continuity now," said Wenger.

However, the Frenchman is not taking three points for granted against the Latics, despite their precarious position in the relegation places, and has praised the way Roberto Martinez has assembled his squad.

"Wigan always have good players, technically talented players and they're scouting countries where nobody else goes," he said.

"They have for me an intelligent idea - they say 'if we go to France or Germany, we face Arsenal and Manchester City, so lets go to countries where nobody goes'.

"There must be a good player in every country and usually they find him. They have done that very well."
