Moratti: Inter Milan's January activity not depend on Sneijder

December 13, 2012

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says his club's dealings in the January transfer window will not revolve around the future of Wesley Sneijder.

Sneijder is under contract with the Italian club until 2015 but has not played for them since September after reportedly refusing to take a wage cut.

The dispute has led to speculation that he will be sold in January, but Moratti claims Inter's transfer activity is not dependent on offloading the Dutch midfielder.

"Nothing depends on him. I think we will go forward with a particular attention to the club's financial situation," Moratti told Ansa.

A weekend win over Napoli has seen the Nerazzurri climb to second place in Serie A and Moratti says his side are exceeding expectations under new coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

He added: "We have no easy matches, because there also is the Coppa Italia during the week.

"We started in a situation in which everything was new, from the coach to players. I say that for now we are doing better than I thought.

"We are doing what is in our possibilities. We will see only at the end whether we will be better than the other sides."
