CLAUDIO RANIERI has set his sights on luring David Beckham and Frank Lampard to Monaco.
The ambitious French club are currently on course for promotion back to Ligue 1.
And with Russian billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev backing Ranieri’s transfer plans, the Italian is keen to add the veteran midfielders to his squad.
Ranieri, who managed Lamps during his time in charge at Chelsea, said: “Oh, it would be fantastic.
“Could he perform well in Ligue 1? Why not? Frank could play in every country.”
Ranieri is unsure whether Monaco have already made an approach for 37-year-old Beckham, who recently bowed out in a blaze of glory at LA Galaxy.
But the former Roma boss would love to see Becks pull on a red and white jersey.
He added: “Oh he is the same — Beckham is a big champion. He would be a good professional player for us.
“I like all the champions and he is a champion.”
Although Ranieri has made his feelings clear about signing the former England colleagues, he is aware the plan could fall foul of the club’s desire to sign younger players.
He said: “Look, I think that my chairman wants young people.
“Young players to develop that can get better.”
