CHELSEA face competition in their bid to land Alexandre Pato’s signature in January.
The AC Milan forward has also been tracked by Brazilian outfit Corinthians, whom Chelsea lost 1-0 to in Sunday’s FIFA Club World Cup Final.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen up front and have been linked with several high profile targets including Atletico Madrid’s talisman Radamel Falcao.
But Corinthians have money too and Pato is the type of player they are looking for.
Italian football site LaGazetta dello Sport has it that Corinthians would be prepared to bid £12m for Pato.
They also suggest that Pato is interested in returning to his home country to play for the newly crowned club world champions.
Pato’s best season in Milan colours came in the 2010/11 season when he scored 14 goals in Serie A.
The goals haven’t flowed so easily this season, as he has netted just twice with both strikes coming in the Champions League.
