Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Lyon defender Dejan Lovren, as their hunt for a new centre back intensifies.
Interim Blues boss Rafa Benitez is desperate to improve his defensive options in the January transfer window, and powerful centre back Lovren is said to be the latest name to be recommended to him by Chelsea’s vast scouting network.
The 23-year-old has earned plenty of admirers following his switch from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2010, but according to Life Sports, Lyon are ready to cash in during the new year to fund other transfer business.
Lovren is likely to cost in excess of £6million, and after failing to pull off deals for Mapou Yanga-Mbwia and Stefen De Vrij, he represents a cheap but reliable option for Benitez.
