Spanish source AS claim that Arsenal are interested in experienced Barcelona striker David Villa.
The Gunners have joined fellow North London side Tottenham in the chase for the former Valencia forward who has become something of a bit-part player at the Nou Camp.
The former Valencia forward arrived with a fanfare after scoring goals for fun at the Mestalla and with the Spanish national team, however a lengthy injury and some fairly average form have seen David Villa relegated to something of a bit part player at Barcelona. More often than not the likes of Pedro, Alexis Sanchez and even youngster Cristian Tello are used as alternatives to help support Lionel Messi.
Villa has started just six La Liga matches this season and has been subbed on each occasion but has still managed to net five goals, thus proving he is still able to finish off a move well enough.
Though Arsene Wenger isn’t known for bringing in veteran additions it’s clear that the Arsenal boss would perhaps be ready to make an exception for a player of Villa’s gravitas.
