Sneijder does not want Anzhi move, claims agent

November 14, 2012

Wesley Sneijder will not be leaving Inter Milan for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, according to his agent.

Sneijder has not featured for Inter since he hobbled off with a thigh injury against Chievo in late September, and his absence has coincided with an upturn in fortunes for Andrea Stramaccioni's side.

Reports in Russia claimed Guus Hiddink was prepared to try and lure his fellow Dutchman to big-spending Anzhi after news broke that Inter had banned Sneijder from communicating with his fans via Twitter.

But his agent, Soren Lerby, moved to dispel talk of a January switch to Russia, telling calciomercato.com: "Wesley doesn't want to go to Anzhi. I feel that these are just rumours and I don't know where they've come from.

"At this point you should probably ask Anzhi and Guus Hiddink about it. It's the first time I've heard anything about it because Wes is very happy at Inter and has a great relationship with everyone.''

Sneijder was an integral part of the Inter side that won the treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010, setting up Diego Milito's goal in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

He signed a five-year contract extension later that year, keeping him at the San Siro until 2015, but has repeatedly been linked with moves to Manchester United and Manchester City.
