Athletic Bilbao’s encounter with Ironi Kiryat Shmona in the Europa League has been postponed due to the violence in Israel.
The Basque side were scheduled to fly on Wednesday ahead of their Group I game on Thursday, but Uefa have taken the action to call the fixture off after a bus explosion seriously injured 10 people in the Israeli city.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were reportedly at Bilbao airport when informed of the decision after Uefa had liaised with the Spanish embassy in Israel.
"The Uefa Emergency Panel met today (Wednesday) and decided to postpone the Uefa Europa League match between Hapoel Kiryat Shmona (Israel) and Athletic Club (Spain) which was scheduled to take place on Thursday 22 November at the Kiryat Eliezer Stadium in Haifa, due to the tense security situation in the region," Uefa said on their official website.
"A decision concerning the rescheduling of the match will be made by the end of the week."
