Moratti does not need Guardiola as he has a good coach in Stramaccioni

October 15, 2012

Inter president Massimo Moratti has made it clear that the Giuseppe Meazza side will not be trying to make Pep Guardiola their new coach.

The former Barcelona trainer is being heavily linked with a move to AC Milan after previously having caught the attention of the Nerazzurri, but Moratti has insisted that they are very happy with current coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

"Guardiola? As far as I'm concerned, we already have a good coach," the Inter president stated to Rai Uno.

Moratti then went on to explain why he believes Stramaccioni is a bit like Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, as he feels the two have a similar work ethic.

"I made the comparison to his devotion to his work, because that’s an important asset for any professional.

"Sometimes when distracted by your fans and popularity it’s not easy to find this kind of dedication. But he has it and it’s something natural. Now if he could only manage to get the same results as well..."

The Inter supremo also had his say on skipper Javier Zanetti, and insisted that the Nerazzurri will not let go of the Argentine like Juventus parted company with club icon Alessandro Del Piero.

"I'm not at Juventus, so I don’t know what the reasons were. Zanetti is a fantastic lad, just as I believe Del Piero was. He has a future written out for him that he wants, meaning that there’s also a future for him as a director, should he ever stop playing football."

Zanetti has a contract with Inter until the summer of 2013.
