Button looking forward to Indian Grand Prix

October 24, 2012

Jenson Button is determined to bounce back from his first-lap smash in Korea at this weekend’s Indian Grand Prix.

The McLaren ace was taken out by Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi at the third turn in the last race 10 days ago.

The unhappy Brit labelled the Japanese driver “an idiot” due to his careless driving and now Button is eager to get racing again in Delhi.

He said: “Through no fault of my own, my weekend in Korea was a wasted opportunity.

“But it’s already far behind me and I’m really looking forward to these next two back-to-back races in India and Abu Dhabi.

“The Indian Grand Prix went well for me last year - I had an absolutely straightforward drive, running second from start to finish. It’s a circuit I like and has a good feel to it.”

Meanwhile, Lotus boss Eric Boullier is confident bad boy Romain Grosjean has stopped his own first-lap road rage.

After the Japanese Grand Prix, Grosjean was blasted by the rest of the paddock for having SEVEN first lap accidents in just 14 races.

But Boullier says the 26-year-old has now learned how to keep his cool after having a trouble-free race in Korea.

Boullier said: “It’s definitely time for us to draw the line and move on, but more importantly it’s also time for Romain to put it in the past for himself.

“Despite a lot of pressure, he drove a good clean race in Korea and I fully believe he now understands what he needs to do to avoid these things in the future.

“Romain’s target for the rest of the season is clear; to build on the platform he created in the last race and help the team push for maximum points in the last four races.”
