Liverpool line up January bid for Bundesliga goal-machine

October 23, 2012

Liverpool will launch a January raid for Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The 29-year-old's future in Germany is uncertain after he postponed talks on a new deal until December.

And, if those discussions prove unsuccessful, the Holland international will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club, as his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

But Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is eager to bring in the former Real Madrid star as soon as January, in order to solve his present lack of firepower.

The Merseyside club are currently struggling to cope with Luis Suarez as their only fit striker.

Anfield bosses are ready to make up for their bungled summer dealings by making a big effort for Huntelaar, who will also attract interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
