Iniesta: Real, Bayern and Chelsea the strongest opponents in CL

October 24, 2012

Barcelona and Spain's midfielder Andrés Iniesta confessed that he never thought things would be going "so well" and noted that in his opinion, reigning champions Chelsea along with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are the biggest threats in the Champions League.

Appearing for a sponsor, Iniesta said that the Champions League "is a very difficult and obstinate competition" because a bad match "can leave you out."

"Chelsea, as the current champions, Bayern and Madrid are the strongest teams in this year's competition, although there are many teams that have a chance to get there", he said.

The man from the Castilla La Mancha region, who scored the first of his team's two goals against Celtic yesterday, admitted he's been fortunate in his ten years in professional football.

"It's ten years now, and each year I've improved; I've been a better player. That's meant I'm always at the level that Barça and Spain need me to be at. Not in my wildest dreams had I imagined that things would go so well. I feel privileged and I hope to keep playing for a few more years", he concluded.
