Sneijder could yet stay at Inter, says Zanetti

January 02, 2013

Inter captain Javier Zanetti has insisted that Wesley Sneijder could still have a future at San Siro.

The Netherlands international recently claimed that it would be best for all parties concerned if he left the club in January, as his contractual dispute with the Nerazzurri continues to rumble on.

However, coach Andrea Stramaccioni has since stated he would be open to bringing the playmaker back into the first team, and veteran defender Zanetti has added that the 28-year-old would be welcome to return should he chose to commit to the club.

Zanetti told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "The only one who can decide is him, and he must speak clearly and be honest. If he wants to stay, a solution can be found. I said to him: 'Choose from the heart'.

"If he comes back and says, 'I am looking ahead for the good of Inter' there will be no problem. But he must be the first not to carry grudges."
