New Deportivo La Coruna coach Domingos has stressed the need for total commitment from everybody at the club if the Galician outfit are to avoid an immediate return to the second division.
The 43-year-old former Braga and Sporting Lisbon boss was officially presented by Depor today after being named last night as the replacement for the sacked Jose Luis Oltra.
Domingos takes over a Depor side lying three points adrift of safety at the foot of the Primera Division standings and with just two wins to their name all season, but the new man is optimistic about the challenge facing him.
"For me it's a source of pride to coach Depor and to try and do a good job here. I accepted because I'm convinved that I can help Depor," he said.
"I'm determined to try and do what everybody is desiring, the club, the fans and the players, which is to do better and more than up until now.
"It's important for Depor to stay in the Primera and for this we must have the commitment of everybody, because it's a tough and difficult job, although it's one that I like and that's why I'm here."
The ex-Porto and Portugal striker, who has been put in charge until the end of the season, faces a tough first match in charge on Saturday when Depor play host to fourth-placed Malaga. Domingos is well aware he does not have long to find his feet at the Riazor.
He said: "We know that to get out of this situation we need to win the upcoming games, starting with Malaga.
"I still haven't been with the players but tomorrow we will talk about how to face the next game. We will do it with calm and with the objective of winning. Will I make changes? I'll be able to decide by Saturday and then you'll see."
