Modric and Song voted La Liga's worst signings of 2012

January 01, 2013

MARCA.com's online readers voted Jordi Alba as the best signing of 2012. Modric, on the other hand received even more votes than Song to be named the transfer fiasco of the year.

The Barcelona left-back arrived at the Camp Nou on the back of his performances at Valencia and his contributions to Del Bosque's side at the European Championships.

The Spanish national coach told him: "You're going to be the best left-back at the Euros". And he was. Four months are all he’s needed to be crowned the best signing of the summer transfer window.

Nigerian Martins (Levante) is considered by many as the second best La Liga signing of 2012 (14.6%) and Aduriz (13.4%) was third, slightly allaying the 'Llorente affair' at Bilbao.

Real Madrid paid €45m for Modric, a quality player in the Premier League who had Spain against the ropes in Euro 2012. Four months after his arrival at Madrid and the Croat has in no way lived up to expectations.

He was chosen as the worst signing of the year with 32.2% of the votes. Song, who cost Barcelona €19m followed closely behind.
