Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has escaped any serious injury as a result of the knock suffered during Sampdoria's shock win over the Italian champions on Sunday.
The Italy international, 26, was forced to remain on the field for the final 15 minutes of the 2-1 defeat at the Juventus Stadium despite a clear limp as the Bianconeri had used all three of their substitutions.
As the final whistle blew the player collapsed to the turf, seemingly weeping with pain, and it was feared he was facing a lengthy lay-off.
However, the club have moved to allay those fears and issued a statement on Sunday evening stating that a scan had revealed nothing more than a severe bruise.
"Claudio Marchisio underwent an MRI scan shortly after the final whistle of Sunday afternoon's clash against Sampdoria," the club said via their official website.
"The scan ruled out any serious injuries and instead revealed a heavy bruise."
It is unclear whether Marchisio will be available for Wednesday's Coppa Italia quarter-final against AC Milan or Sunday's league visit to Parma.
