La Liga is not impossible for Real Madrid, says Sergio Ramos

January 04, 2013

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos believes that his side still have a chance to win the 2012-13 La Liga title.

The champions currently sit third in the league, already 16 points behind rivals Barcelona. However, the 26-year-old is certain the club can bounce back in the second half of the campaign.

"We must continue to fight. La Liga is not impossible," he told reporters, adding: "We must stick together."

Ramos is aware that the team currently struggling is the same side that beat the Blaugrana for the title last season, and he is sure that his Santiago Bernabeu counterparts will focus well on their upcoming challenges.

"The team hasn't changed from last year. We are almost the same players," he noted. "The players' attitudes have always been excellent."

Regarding the European competition, he stated that it is currently not the right time to think about it, since there is a lot of work to be done domestically: "We'll have time to think about Champions League, but not now," he continued.

He also commented on his team-mate and captain Iker Casillas, who was surprisingly benched by Jose Mourinho for the match against Malaga on December 22: "Mourinho decides. We can't do anything about that," he concluded.

Madrid resume action on January 6 against Real Sociedad.
