West Ham are interested in taking Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on loan in January.
The 28-year-old came on as a substitute in Tuesday's Capital One Cup defeat at Bradford and missed a penalty in the shootout.
He is surplus to requirements at Arsenal and, although there has been interest from Fiorentina, the player wants to stay in England.
West Ham, however, face a battle to hold on to Momo Diame, with foreign sides now showing interest in the midfielder alongside Newcastle and Arsenal.
The Senegal star will be fit in three weeks after damaging his hamstring last week and can leave for £3.5million.
