Santos confident of completing Robinho deal

December 14, 2012

Santos remain optimistic regarding their chances of bringing Robinho back to the club from Italian giants AC Milan.

The Brazil international began his career at Santos, bursting onto the world scene as a prodigiously-gifted teenager.

He was lured away by Real Madrid in 2005 and has gone on to represent Manchester City and Milan, while taking in a loan spell at Santos in 2010.

It is possible that he could soon be heading home for a third spell, despite Milan's claims that no sale will be sanctioned in January.

Santos believe they can convince the Serie A outfit to do business, with negotiations regarding a possible deal already underway.

Club president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro told TV O Povo: "Robinho strongly wants to return to Brazil and, from his perspective, that means returning to Santos.

"We have sent a written offer but there is a difference between what Robinho wants and what Milan want.

"But I think we can overcome that, although it isn't an easy task. It's a battle whose outcome will be known this week."
