A Premier League battle is set to ensue in January for Feyenoord defender Stefan De Vrij.
Liverpool are understood to be heading the chase for the highly-rated 20-year-old central defender - who shunned interest from England in the summer to stay in Holland, and he was appointed captain replacing Ron Vlaar.
The Dutch international has continued to impress with the Rotterdam giants, and now they look ready to cash in on one of their prized assets.
Liverpool are set to push ahead with a move, but they will face intense competition from elsewhere in the Premier League.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United have all been alerted to De Vrij's progress this term and are ready to compete.
It is believed Feyenoord would be looking for around €10million (£8million) for De Vrij, who has 18 months left on his deal at De Kuip.
