Ashley Williams will not be hit with a Football Association charge over the controversial incident involving Robin Van Persie during Swansea's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson claimed Van Persie was 'lucky to be alive' after Williams kicked the ball into the back of the Dutchman's head from point-blank range towards the end of Sunday's game at the Liberty Stadium.
A furious Ferguson called for action to be taken against the Swans defender, saying: "He should be banned for a long time because that was the most dangerous thing I’ve seen on a football field for many years."
However, the FA have confirmed Williams will escape retrospective action as he was booked at the time by referee Michael Oliver.
