José Mourinho has admitted he is not happy at the moment with his achievements at Real Madrid, but insisted that is because he sets himself such high standards, rather than due to any conflict with the club.
He declared in an interview with 'TVE': "At the moment I'm not happy very often. At the moment I'm far away from achieving the objectives I set for myself. The level of pressure I place on myself does not allow me to be happy."
The Portuguese coach's press conference before Real Madrid's Champions League clash with Ajax on Tuesday was dominated by talk of his possible departure in June and his gesture to the Bernabéu crowd before the Madrid derby with Atlético Madrid last Saturday, when he came out onto the pitch 40 minutes before the match.
"I went out there because whistling was expected," Mourinho explained.
"If there's animosity, the best thing is that it comes out before the match and against me personally. So later on they can support the team and there won't be an opinion, but support."
Mourinho refused to comment on his relationship with president Florentino Pérez, or whether he would be leaving Madrid in June, saying:
"I am tired of these questions [about his future]. I don't have to tell you what I talk to the president about. My relationship with him is good and I've already said that. I'm not going to feed this situation. There is no story [in him leaving]. Neither I nor the president is going to say a word. My future is that of tomorrow, which is my 101st match in the Champions League. And UEFA will confirm it."
