Italian source CalcioMercato claim that Man United are eyeing up FC Porto left-back Alex Sandro as a potential long term successor to French defender Patrice Evra.
Though Sir Alex Ferguson brought in Dutchman Alexander Buttner it appears that Scot is still looking to strengthen the left side of his defence and has earmarked a move for the young Brazilian international.
The 21 year old moved to FC Porto 18 months ago and his form has led to a prolonged spell in the senior national team set-up. The wide-man can also play in an advanced role on the left hand side and may well be interested in a move to join national team colleagues Rafael and Anderson at Old Trafford.
Alex Sandro cost FC Porto £7.5m and would presumably cost well in excess of that fee if Man United were to come calling.
Patrice Evra has been less consistent this term but is still regarded as one of the best left-backs in European football but at 32 years of age is clearly in the latter stages of his glittering career.
