Lamela refuses to get carried away after two goals in Milan victory

December 24, 2012

Roma star Erik Lamela has revealed he will not be getting carried away after putting in another superb performance in Saturday night’s 4-2 victory over AC Milan.

Lamela, 20, whose two goals in the rout at the Stadio Olimpico took him to 10 for the season in Serie A, was quick to praise the role of his team-mates in helping him shine.

"I think I've done well so far, but the substance is of my team-mates,” he told reporters after the game.

“They do so much for the attackers and allow us to score. Zeman? He gives so much to the attack and [it] was an important win because we needed it and we are happy."

Lamela insisted that personal honours are not what he is striving for but in this form it is hard to keep away from the headlines.

He added: “Scoring 20 goals? Maybe it would be nice for me, and for the Roma fans."

However, the Argentina forward's team-mate Miralem Pjanic was keen to stress there is a long way to go yet this season.

Pjanic said: "The season is still long. We have match after match to work and in January there will be three tough matches."

Roma face tough away trips next month to Napoli, Catania and Bologna, and will also face Inter at home.
