Iker Casillas: Goalkeepers are recognised less for their talents

December 15, 2012

The fourth part of Iker Casillas' interview with 'La Sexta' has been released.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper talks about the approaching presentation of the Ballon d'Or awards for best player and best coach.

For him, Del Bosque or Mourinho should win the coaches' prize. He also acknowledges that it's not easy to win the Ballon d'Or as a goalkeeper.

"I think Vicente has done more than enough to deserve the Ballon d'Or, but then so has Mourinho. I think it'll be between the two. Ideally they'd give it to both because I appreciate the pair of them a lot" he affirmed diplomatically about the prize for the best coach of 2012.

He didn't want to opt for a winner, but he did rule out Pep Guardiola: "I can't choose, but I'd like it if they give it to one of those two. But I wouldn't say... I deal with the boss daily and with Vicente... well, also; it's one and the same."

Regarding the player's Ballon d'Or for which Messi, Cristiano and Iniesta are nominated, the Real Madrid and Spain captain affirmed that it's not easy for him to get on to that podium - just as it's been difficult for goalkeepers before him:

"It's not that they rob you of the chance but it's true what I've been saying recently, that the keeper's work is good and necessary for a team. Not for me, but for the rest of my teammates.

''I think there are incredible goalkeepers who have had wonderful seasons and perhaps have never been recognised with this award."
