Chelsea captain John Terry says that it is "a matter of time" until he makes his comeback from a knee injury.
The centre-back missed out on the Blues' unsuccessful Club World Cup challenge in Japan and has not featured since a 1-1 draw with Liverpool on November 11.
"I'm doing well and just waiting for the swelling and bruising to calm down and then I can step things up," Terry wrote in the club's matchday programme ahead of Sunday's game against Aston Villa.
"I'm outside doing ball work already and I can't wait to get back involved - it's just a matter of time to let things settle."
Terry, 32, has made 558 appearances in all competitions for the Blues since his debut in the 1998-99 season.
