Benitez praises Torres

December 22, 2012

Rafa Benitez has praised the work ethic he has seen from Fernando Torres since reuniting with the striker at Chelsea.

The Spanish striker has notched six goals in the Blues' last five outings, something of a return to form after a patchy season so far.

Torres seems to have been revitalised by the arrival of his former mentor at Liverpool, who replaced Roberto Di Matteo in November.

The pair enjoyed a fruitful partnership following Torres' arrival at Anfield in 2007, and Benitez has admitted that he is trying to tailor the Chelsea side towards the player's needs.

"Fernando worked and is working very hard. He can still improve and he knows it," Benitez told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

"We are making small changes to the team and the motivation.

"His principle objective has to be attacking, and to be as close to the area as possible."
