Atletico Madrid boss Simeone expecting tough Copa del Rey clash with Getafe

December 11, 2012

Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone is aware of the danger Getafe can cause in Wednesday’s Copa del Rey tie.

The clubs will face off at the Vicente Calderon in the first leg of the Copa del Rey last 16, and although Atleti are flying high and defeated Getafe 2-0 at the same venue recently, Simeone knows not to underestimate their fellow Madrid residents.

“They’re a tough opponent enjoying a good time, difficult and competitive,” ‘El Cholo’ stressed in a media engagement.

“We’ll have to approach the game with care and attention, maintaining the intensity of recent games.”

Los Colcheneros responded to two defeats on the spin with a 6-0 drubbing of Deportivo La Coruna last night, striker Radamel Falcao netting five of the goals.

“We reacted well. There is joy and enthusiasm, as it was very different to the week we had been experiencing. We settled increasingly into the game and began to be protagonists.

“What Falcao did is historic. Great for the fans, the club, and for him. Whenever a players scores five goals it is difficult to repeat. We are happy for him and hope he can remain competitive in every game.”
