Arsene Wenger is confident Arsenal can bridge the gap between the two Manchester clubs at the top of the Premier League this season.
The Frenchman believes overhauling the 15-point deficit between the Gunners and Manchester United isn't an impossible target after watching his side shake off the home loss suffered against Swansea a week earlier to beat West Brom at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, moving to seventh in the table.
Wenger accepts it will be tough to peg the league leaders back during the second half of the campaign, especially after watching them edge past local rivals Manchester City on Sunday, and has called on his side to start showing more consistency in their performances.
“The Manchester derby was of a very good level and the draw would maybe have been the fair result,” he told the club's official website.
“Manchester City came back - they started the game very strongly - but Man United have shown they are clinical up front.
“The rest of the weekend was quite interesting. It shows that if you’re consistent, you will be there at the end of the season. From now on it is important for us to be consistent
“The gap [to the top] is big, but not big enough to think it’s done.”
